About Dwight
Dwight Christopher, both a singer and songwriter, says his musical style has been influenced by the pure Country sounds of George Jones, Conway Twitty, and George Strait among many others. Dwight has had chart success with Hearts Go Round - Billboard’s Pick Hit; Mirror, Mirror – Cash Box Top 20; This Time My Leavin’s Gone Too Far, and When It Comes to Cheatin’ – Indie Bullet Pick Hit. Some of his other notable songs are The Wall – 10th Anniversary, Washington DC; Dance club favorite – Party Till the Cows Come Home; and the title track on his CD, Down to the Wire. Dwight performed background vocals on the hit remake Mony, Mony and on Go Braves with one-time record producer, Troy Shondell (This Time We’re Really Breakin’ Up) and performed on shows with him.
His first record producer, Mike Borchetta, who produced, Hearts Go Round, This Time My Leavin’s Gone Too Far and When It Comes to Cheatin’, introduced Dwight to his wife, Cherry on his first recording session. They now have two daughters, who are making their musical talents known.
Dwight met Nashville producer Jerry Cupit (Jukebox Junkie fame) in the early 1990’s. Jerry and Dwight completed a 10 song CD titled "Down to the Wire", and it is full of traditional country music like "Passin' Time". Dwight also included on this album two of his familiar songs, "The Wall" and "Missing In Action", which portray the pain experienced by both the Vietnam soldier and his family. His song "The Wall" was chosen out of 450 entries to be the theme song for the 10th anniversary of this memorial in Washington DC on November 11, 1992. Since then, he has shared these poignant songs with thousands and helped in their healing. Dwight's songs have been heard on every major network including ABC's "Good Morning America" and CNN.
Over the years, Dwight has shared the stage with many artists and legends including: Loretta Lynn, singing at the ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, Jim Ed Brown, Highway 101, Dave and Sugar, The Hager Twins, Charlie McCoy and The Hee Haw Band, Pam Tillis, songwriter Dean Dillon (The Chair), Mark Collie, Troy Shondell, Lee Greenwood in Washington DC, Faron Young, Ronnie Milsap, Skip Ewing, Ronnie McDowell, Grand Ole Opry star Jan Howard, Steve Cropper and the Air Force Band of Flight, John Schneider, The Blackwoods and famed steel guitarist, Wayne Hobbs.
Most recently Dwight has been focusing on his songwriting and spending time working with his music publishing company, Lauren Ashley Publishing BMI. He and singer/songwriter/musician, Jerry Newport, have been collaborating on several tunes for Dwight’s new album, which will be starting production in June 2007, in Pigeon Forge, TN. Plans are to include several songs of faith on this next venture.
